My husband's business is doing landscaping and tree service three seasons out of the year. He is very good at what he does and takes a lot of pride in his work.
Well, about a week ago he decided that he was going to tear up the little rose garden he had made in front of our house and do a patio instead. Not just any patio, we're talking a decent sized one and the material he is using is big pieces of natural slate. There is so much work that is going into it that I finally had to ask him if he goes through this much trouble every time he works with slate. When he said yes I made the decision that he needs to get paid more. He doesn't know that yet, but the next time he has a client that wants to use it I'll let him know ;)
If anyone would like to come out and lend a hand that would be awesome. I know his back will thank you for it and we would be more than willing to pay you in beer :)
When I was working my way through these shots I can't tell you how many times I reminded myself how lucky I was to love the job I have. It was awesome having the opportunity to do a shoot with these two. I graduated with the soon-to-be dad, Woody, and Rachael is the little sister of another friend we graduated with. It was so much fun to be able to talk to them and just catch up a little (even though I have to admit it didn't feel like 12 years since we were in high school together)
We had another mini shoot planned for a couple days later but their little bundle didn't want to wait any longer and decided to cancel our shoot :) Everyone was healthy and happy so that's all I cared about. Hopefully I'll have the chance to do a shoot with the new family of 3 (well 4 when you include their wonderful pup) soon!!!
Congratulations you guys. I can't even put into words how happy I am for you both!
I'm a mom, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, granddaughter, dancer, teacher, crafter AND photographer. I'm a one woman show and I love what I do. I work hard to balance every side of life. And even though sometimes I struggle I love love love what I do.

Top 20 Shots of 2011
This was a hard post for me. I absolutely could not narrow it down to 10 so I decided to do 20 and even that was hard to come down to. I had so many great clients and wonderful shots this year. I wouldn't be here without good friends and this beautiful community! Thank you all so much for your love and support.
ENJOY! I know I do:)

The Only Boy is Having a Girl!
I've known Seth for so many years I can't even count. I've been good friends with one of his older sisters for most of my life. Marti is one of the sweetest, most sincere people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. I got the wonderful privilege of doing a maternity shoot with them back in June.
Seth is the only boy in a family full of sisters. He has 4 sisters, 3 in front and 1 behind. I have to admit that I found it kind of funny that they were having a girl :-) but a blessing because their little angel has so many strong and wonderful women in her life!
Their little girl is beautiful and hopefully someday soon I'll get the opportunity to do a shoot with all of them.
Seth and Marti you are doing beautifully! Parenting is a learn on the job process and I am far from any sort of expert but your little peanut looks happy and healthy and sometimes that's all you can hope for.

Great Week!
This week seemed like it was the busiest one I've had in a while, it was nice:). I had a wedding reception last weekend for a great person and friend and her new husband. I shot their wedding back in March so the beautiful outside pictures were fun to do. The bride had the most amazing dress and, lucky her, got to wear it twice.
Next was a wonderful maternity session on Thursday. I have been friends with that couple for quite some time also so I felt honored that they would put their trust in me and let me take their pictures. That one was a lot of fun too.
I haven't gotten very far on my editing lately because I've been working on my jewelry. Our local art fair is this weekend and my grandmother an I have the oportunity to set up a booth. It should definately be interesting. When I have more pictures to show I'll post them:). Can't wait to share!
